Bio
Jeannette began practicing hatha yoga in the late 1980s while she was student at Boston University, where yoga was offered as a one-credit PE course and done on gymnastic mats while wearing leotards. She went on to discover Ashtanga yoga at Jonny Kest’s first studio in Detroit, Michigan in the 1990s, when she was pregnant with her first daughter.
Having lived in Brussels since 1997, Jeannette found Yyoga in 2015, and promptly fell in love with hot yoga. Today, her classes draw from Ashtanga, Sivananda and Scaravelli styles, infused with 30+ years of regular practice and rooted in direct experience of the principle “when the student is ready, the teacher appears.”
Along with certification in Ashtanga vinyasa yoga, Jeannette has trained in yin, pre- and postnatal yoga, and qi gong. Other influences include tantra, bhakti, and mindfulness practices. The works of Pema Chodron, Anthony de Mello, and Michael Stone, among others, guide and enrich her offering.
Jeannette’s approach is organic, philosophical, and occasionally ironic, yet unwaveringly committed to the transformational power of this ancient science of life.
