Summer Solstice at La Monnaie / De Munt
Event
Special Event and Free Outdoor Class
June 21
Opera can depict the full range of human emotion with music, staging and the power of the human voice. It is also, at its core, another way of breathing together. On the longest day of the year, explore that aspect of the art from through yoga. In collaboration with Yyoga, La Monnaie offers you six indoor and one outdoor yoga sessions, each with its own focus, to enjoy a morning celebrating light, cycles, and the shared breath of community, complete with music and singing.
9:00 › 9:45 | Light Flow with with Colin | Grand Foyer
A dynamic vinyasa practice designed to shake off the stillness of the morning and inviting full, grounded presence. As the energy settles, sound takes over, with soft relaxation supported by gentle instruments and chimes.
9:15 › 10:00 | Voice and Flow with Maria Mannisto | Choir Room
Let sound guide your body through a gentle vinyasa practice. Moving through poses at an unhurried pace, you will discover how the softness of a voice can carry, support, and deepen physical movement. No singing experience needed.
10:00 › 10:45 | Moving with Vibration with Morgan | Grand Foyer
Your voice is not just sound. It is vibration, sensation, and a direct line to what lives beneath the careful surface we present to the world. This session sits at the rare intersection of movement, emotion, and deep listening for an experience unlike any other.
10:15 › 11:00 | Harmonising Yoga with Maria Mannisto | Choir Room
In this gentle hatha flow, held together by breath and song, you are guided through slow, grounded poses, while the voice weaves through the practice like a second breath. Each shape becomes an opportunity to settle a little more deeply.
10:30 › 11:15 | Icarus Flow with Gilles & Camille Ledocq (Cello) | Place de la Monnaie | FREE
This all-levels outdoor vinyasa practice, accompanied throughout by live cello, will rise deliberately, from the ground beneath your feet, through standing postures, up toward a balancing pose that reaches for the sun, before surrendering completely into savasana.
11:00 › 11:45 | Into the Sound with Colin | Grand Foyer
A complete sound bath with gongs, crystal bowls, and other ethereal percussion instruments. As the waves of tone wash over you, the nervous system begins to release its grip, the breath deepens, and the body remembers what stillness actually feels like.
11:15 › 12:00 | Carry the Light with Morgan | Choir Room
For this last session of the morning, enjoy a fully restorative practice, carried by light percussion, crystalline sounds, and soft vocalising. A deep invitation to rest without effort, to release without trying.
