Shamanic Breathwork for Ancestral Healing
Healing What Did Not Start With You
Yyoga Workshop
5 December, 2026
Overview
Some of the fears, wounds and patterns we live with did not begin with us. The experiences of our parents, grandparents and earlier generations can live on in us, often without our knowing.
Trauma, the lasting impact of deeply frightening or painful experiences, can travel through generations. It can shape our personality, the beliefs we hold about ourselves and the world, our core values, and even our physical health. It may show up as a heaviness we have always felt, a fear we cannot trace back to our own life, or a pattern that keeps returning no matter how well we understand it.
Addressing this part of our story is increasingly recognised, in clinical therapeutic settings as well as in the holistic field. Spiritual traditions across many cultures have long taught that we are deeply connected to those who came before us. What remained unspoken, unhealed or unfinished in their lives can be passed on to us. Alongside their strength and gifts, we may also inherit their pain.
Science is now beginning to explore this connection through epigenetics. Studies suggest that stress and trauma experienced by one generation can influence how genes are expressed in the next. Researchers are starting to open up to what many indigenous traditions have understood for a very long time
What Is Shamanic Breathwork?
Shamanic breathwork is a conscious breathing practice inspired by ancient healing traditions and designed to support emotional release and spiritual healing. It blends indigenous wisdom with modern psychology, honouring both psychological growth and spiritual experience.
At its heart is the understanding that the breath is a doorway into deeper layers of consciousness. We breathe in a full, continuous rhythm, supported by drumming, rattles, music and the voice. Over time, this rhythm quiets the thinking mind and opens a non-ordinary state of consciousness, where we can perceive ourselves and our history in deeper ways.

A small, intimate group.
We gather in a small group, so there is space for everyone to feel safe, seen and held throughout the journey.
An opening ceremony.
We begin by opening sacred space together, calling in the directions, the elements and ancestral guidance. This creates a protected container for the journey, deepens our sense of trust, and helps us surrender more fully to what wants to emerge from within.
A profound guided journey.
Together we will breathe in a full, steady rhythm, supported by drumming, rattles, music and the voice. As the thinking mind quiets, we enter a deeper state of consciousness. We go at our own pace, and Silvia holds the space for everyone throughout.
In these expanded states, memories, emotions and images may arise that are hard to reach through words alone. Something that has felt stuck for years can begin to move. Many people describe a shift in how they relate to themselves, their family and their past, as if seeing an old story from a new place. These moments of insight and release are often where real change begins.
Through this guided journey, we create space to connect with our lineage, to sense what is ours and what may belong to those before us, and to let go of what no longer needs to be carried.
